Lake Maninjau
A winding road with 44 sharp bends descends to lake Maninjau, 36 km from Bukkittingi. On this side of the lake you will find many ( family ) hotels and little places where you can have meals or snacks ( warungs ). Lake Maninjau, the home of poets and philosophers, is an extremely popular tourist place in West Sumatra. Just a little furtheron you will find peace and quietness and the original life style. It is a great place for walking, or for renting a bike and going around the lake ( 70 km ). There are also facilities for swimming and water-skiing . In the village of Matur, overlooking the lake, dance performances are arranged on request.

You can also go to top Lawang, from where you have a great view over the lake. And walk from there down trough the jungle. Or paraglide from the top to the lake. It is up to you.
