Padang and Sikuai
Although Padang is a hot coastal town, that is developing fast into a modern business centre, it has still a lot to offer to the tourist. The capital city of West Sumatra has several houses built in traditional architectural style, including the Padang Museum, which houses objects of cultural and historical interest. The old port area is still clustered with Chinese and Dutch buildings and has hardly changed since it was built a century ago.
Cross the Batang Arau in a sampan and walk along the panoramic pathway to the lovely beach of Air Manis, an easy and delightful walk of three kilometres through lush tropical rainforest.

Sikuai Island
A forty fife minutes boat ride from bungus to this paradise island with a good hotel, beautiful sea views, safe bathing and a paved walking around the island.
Air Manih Beach
About 4 kilometers south from Padang, across the Batang Arau river over the hill, is a fishing village on Padang’s scenic west coast. Local lore has it that the legend of Malin Kundang, took a place in this area. A rocks stands in the water a short distance from the shoe and is said to be the hull of Malin Kundang’s boat. He was shipwrecked an a strom after being cursed by his mother when he was too proud to acknowledge her.
Bungus Beach
Twenty kilometers of south Padang sheltered by a bay, Bungus has long been a popular tourist destination with two good stretches of beach namely Carolina and Karang Tirta. Recreational facilities are available there.
Cubadak Island
Around 30 minutes boat ride from Tarusan Village, Cubadak is pristine slice of tropical heaven with a glorious stretch of white sand beach. Tourist facilities include bungalows, restaurant, and water sport facilities.
Baying Sani Waterfall
About 65 kilometers south of Padang, a cascading waterfall with beautiful surrounding is a popular spot for young people.
